Anna Maria Muccilli

Anna Maria Muccilli is a respected communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in her field. As President and founder of A.M. Public Relations, a Toronto-based PR boutique that specializes in creating and implementing communications strategies for Canadian arts and entertainment organizations, she has proudly represented companies of all sizes and handled a diverse range of projects.

AMPR's roster of clients has included leading film and television production and distribution companies such as Paramount Vantage, Paramount Classics, Warner Independent Pictures, MGM-UA, E-1 Entertainment Canada, Serendipity Point Films and Equinoxe Films, as well as cultural organizations such as The Italian Trade Commission and Italian public broadcaster RAI International.

Anna Maria and her team have worked with numerous international celebrities, such as Al Gore, Jackie Chan, David Cronenberg and Sophia Loren, as well as many up-and-comers. From Canadian PR campaigns for "An Inconvenient Truth", "The Passion of the Christ" and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" - to projects targeting niche markets such as "Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival", AMPR builds creative campaigns to generate media and consumer awareness for maximum impact.

Prior to founding AMPR in 1999, Anna Maria was Vice-President of Publicity and Promotion at industry leader Alliance Communications for nine years. During her tenure at Alliance, she was responsible for handling publicity and promotion for an annual release slate of 50-75 films, including "Pulp Fiction", "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery", "The English Patient" and "Il Postino". In addition, she oversaw unit publicity for Alliance's film and television productions and handled strategic media communications for the corporation.

Prior to joining Alliance in 1988, Anna Maria was a publicist at Harbourfront Corporation, an innovative, non-profit cultural organization in Toronto that provides internationally renowned programming in arts, culture,education and recreation. Projects included performing arts festivals such as World Stage and the International Festival of Authors where she handled publicity for such literary luminaries as Salman Rushdie, Saul Bellow, A.S. Byatt, Edward Albee and Patricia Highsmith.

Anna Maria came to the world of communications with a strong background in community relations. As a Community Legal Worker, her responsibilities included initiating and delivering community outreach services and public legal education to low-income residents of the central-west area of Toronto. In addition, she handled casework and provided summary advice services in English, Italian, French and Spanish in areas such as tenants' rights, social assistance, workers' rights, immigration and refugee claims.

Anna Maria holds a BA in French Literature and History and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She has travelled throughout Canada, the US, South America and Europe and has lived and worked in Italy, France and Haiti.
